O'Donoghues First National Charity Lunch 2013

Charity Lunch

On Friday 13th September O'Donoghues First National held a Charity Lunch at The Cav to help raise money to support our local Children's ward at The Royal Darwin Hospital. An incredible $33,843.50 was raised! All this wouldn't be possible without our major sponsors: Skycity, NT Tap & Drain, NembralaNow!, Tomazos Group, CAM Interiors, VIBE Waterfront and Halkitis Group.

As a result of the hard work and dedication of the FN O'Donoghues team plus the generous sponsorship and support from local companies, all guests indulged in a Brazilian themed grill feast along with being treated to a traditional Brazilian dance show. Through this incredible effort, the children of Royal Darwin Hospital now all have a flat screen TV at their bedside PLUS the donation of ten sofa beds will allow the parents of critically ill children to sleep overnight and be close to their child. Well done to all the team!

Third Red Cross Golf Day

O'Donoghues First National (OFN) has raised a record $46,400 at their 3rd Annual Golf Charity Day, held last Friday at Darwin Golf Course.“This is a huge fundraising effort and we thank all our supporters and sponsors that made this fantastic result possible,” said OFN Managing Director Jeremy O'Donoghue.

Supporters and sponsors of the OFN Golf Day included:
SKM, FYFE, ABLE Finance, Skycity Casino, Top End Pest, NT News, CSG, NT Tap & Drain Doctor, Attitude for Men, Sportingbet, NT Motorcycle Centre, The Cavanagh Hotel, JR Communications, Berrimah Business Park, Westpac, Wolpers Grahl, NT TAB, Darwin Turf Club, CAM Interiors, Colemans Printing, Value Travel, Medina Vibe, Territory Technology Solutions, JAYROW, Helifish, Darwin LIFE, REINT, ERA, Michelle Coleman Writing and Media Management & Jacana House.

All participants dug deep early in the day during the Golf Buggy Auction, with the buggies selling for an average of $500 each, while the Auction at the end of play was well received with a Helifish charter selling for $2,300 alone, among other items. The day's MC was John Blackman, who unleashed on Darwin former Hey Hey It's Saturday star Dickie Knee, making it the character's first appearance outside the show in 10 years.Joined by Simon O'Donoghue, President of the First National Foundation, Mr Blackman arrived at the golf course in spectacular style via helicopter - thanks to Helifish. The day culminated in the excitement of the $10, 0000 cash raffle draw, with the lucrative prize going to lucky Territorian, Travis Uzkuraitis.

Jeremy O'Donoghue said the money raised by the OFN Golf Day will go to the Red Cross Emergency REDiPlan, which helps to prepare Territorians for emergencies, especially those who are vulnerable, new arrivals and for whom English is not a first language.“With the number of cyclones, bushfires and floods experienced in the Top End, REDiPlan has never been so important,” said Mr O'Donoghue.“We are pleased to be able to contribute to this positive cause, ensuring Territorians are adequately prepared for natural disasters. The fundraising result is a demonstration of our commitment to giving back to the local community.”

The money is distributed through the First National Foundation, the philanthropic arm of First National Real Estate, which was founded to focus fundraising efforts to strengthen local communities. Nationally, First National Foundation partners with Australian Red Cross to help communities in crisis. Locally owned and operated, O'Donoghues First National was awarded the 2011 Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory Community Service Award following last year's Golf Day, which raised a significant $40,000 for Red Cross.

Second Red Cross Golf Day

Giving back to the community, raising over $40,000 for Red Cross - Held on Tuesday 14th June 2011, the day was a massive success with over $40,000 raised for Red Cross, via First National Foundation.

Established in 2006, the First National Foundation embodies the philanthropic efforts of over 450 First National Real Estate offices to provide financial support to charitable organisations across Australia. The First National Foundation has been founded to tangibly demonstrate First National Real Estate’s commitment to the community. As a registered, not for profit, Independent Corporation, the First National Foundation involves itself in fundraising in order to engage with the local and wider community, not to profit from it.

It was a fantastic day incorporating an 18 hole Ambrose, played at the Darwin Golf Club preceded with a light brunch and a BBQ afterwards. Every player received a presentation pack prior to tee off and enjoyed our special First National O’Donoghue hospitality during the afternoon.

Congratulations to the Gross Winners of the day who won our mystery prize … a scenic flight in a Squirrel Helicopter which landed on the Driving Range to collect them! There were plenty of other fantastic prizes on offer, thanks to our very generous sponsors and all players had the opportunity to win a Harley Davidson Motor Bike and Jet Ski. Also a big congratulations to the Harley Davidson Raffle winner, Brad Carey!

It was certainly inspirational to raise as much money as we did for The Red Cross who are always there for all of us, in time of need.
